STANDARDS-BASED TEACHING

Danielson Framework

Domain 1: Planning and Preparation

Effective teachers carefully design their lessons using both their knowledge of content and students in order to guide their pedagogical approaches. With specific outcomes and differentiated instruction, the design of multiple modes of assessment will align with the learning segments and demonstrate student understanding (Danielson, 2013).

Domain 2: The Classroom Environment

Accomplished teachers create a set of expectations, which are used to organize the classroom environment so it runs most efficiently. The organization of the space and the development of routines, procedures, rules, and consequences ultimately engage the students in learning in a safe, systematic, and effective learning environment. Classroom management is so important because it lays the foundation for many other key components such as student behavior, academic skills, and the social and emotional development of my students (Danielson, 2013).

Domain 3: Instruction

Successful teachers coherently communicate with their learners to ensure student engagement and understanding in learning activities. By utilizing a variety of teaching styles that adhere to students’ of different needs and learning abilities, a teacher effectively provides scaffolding and access to concepts to all students (Danielson, 2013).

Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities

Credible teachers are committed to a lifelong journey of learning. These teachers participate in professional development opportunities, reflect on their teaching practices, revise their pedagogical plans, maintain accurate records of students, and communicate with families to demonstrate their professionalism as an educator (Danielson, 2013).
