DANIELSON FRAMEWORK

Domain 2: The Classroom Environment

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN

As a dance educator, I strive to create an inclusive classroom environment that fosters mutual respect and rapport among the students and teacher.  This comprehensive classroom management plan was developed for a middle school classroom and encompassing all elements of Domain 2.

2a. Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport

GROUP CONTRACT

This group contract demonstrates one way that I fostered respect and rapport among my students.  When working on a long-term group choreography project, students filled out this group contract as a way to discuss protocols for collaboration, standards for work, how to resolve conflicts, and more.  Students reviewed their responses with me, signed their contract, and then were required to uphold the standards outlined throughout the project by their peers and myself.

2b. Establishing a Culture for Learning

PEER FEEDBACK PROTOCOLS

One way that I establish a culture for learning, pride in work, and set expectations for learning and achievement is to use protocols for providing feedback.  Here is an example of a checklist created for peer feedback of a ballet technique combination.  Students evaluated a peer based on the established criteria in the checklist.

This checklist was used in the Peer Evaluations in Ballet Technique Lesson found on the Sample Lesson and Unit Plans Page
